These “group chats” are informal get-togethers. These events are primarily for people adjusting to life after incarceration. In other words, anyone who’s been in jail or prison. Participants can share success stories or tips. For example, they can talk about how they’ve dealt with obstacles they faced after release, continuing their education, how they landed their first job, or tips for finding a place to live.
There’s no judgment. Just real talk about real change.
Anyone who’s ever been incarcerated is welcome, and so are providers! Moreover, there is no charge. That means it’s free to attend. In addition, volunteers can earn community service hours. This includes people required to obtain court-ordered community service through the Sheriff’s Department’s Alternative Sentencing Program!
If you know someone who might benefit from our bi-weekly Life After Incarceration Group Chat, please let them know about it.
Our next event is tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Elk Grove Public Library. We’ll be in the public meeting room. Just enter through the door on the North/Elk Grove Blvd. side of the building.
